Jason Oliva [wine],  Stripey Horse 2008

First pictures of the completed signed and numbered  [Stripey Horse] 2008 : Cab Franc, Cab Sav, merlot blend. Everything inside and out turned out beyond expectations. The label paper is high quality similar to Arches and all the labels were letter pressed so the artworks line work is raised and glossy. Also the gentleman in South Africa that waxed all 250 bottles and 18 Magnums is a true artisan – Home stretch with the governmental red tape as well!

Thanks to Dirk and especially Suzaan the owner of Kaia my favorite (South African) wine bar in NYC…google Kaia on the upper east side (take 4/5 to 86th and walk)

Hello Everyone,
I am very excited about this. I have teamed up for an event with head designer of Scalamandre for November and December. Here is the first of many photos to follow combining my artwork with Scalamndre’s Wall coverings, fabrics, furniture and home decor. So cool! You can see The Lion (30 x 20 hand painted on Arches Paper)  edition on paper hanging in this picture, he looks right at home amongst Scalamandre’s 2011 lead design of the zebra.

Hello Everyone,
Some  more pictures and information to share from South Africa and NYC.
The [Stripey Horse] label has received government approval and will be printed and fixed to all the bottles prior to its 3 week ocean journey to the States…very exciting.

I had three extremely successful tastings with the taste bottles of [Stripey Horse] that Dirk brought. Everyone raved about the quality of the wine as well as the taste. Here is a copy of the menu that we debuted the Magnum to a prestigious Investment bank and law firm:

You can see that [Stripey Horse}] was up against some of the worlds greatest wines and it came out on top. I could not have been more pleased. The wine will be on the water traveling to the states over a three week period so it looks like the bottles will be in NYC by the beginning of November.

Hand harvested grapes from high lying environmentally friendly grown Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, in Stellenbosch, were used to produce this Bordeaux style blend. Bottling was done by hand using customised equipment and natural gravitational flow, therefore eliminating the use of electrical equipment and we used harvested rain water to clean all equipment. This forms part of my EARTH FRIENDLY EARTH CONSCIOUS approach to winemaking and ensuring a small carbon footprint.

I thought these were cool to look at so I thought you would too. Here are the blue prints for the bottles that I chose for [Stripey Horse] 2008. I am so pleased with my choice now that I have seen the taster sample bottles. The other surprise is that there will be a limited edition of 12 [Stripey Horse] Magnums!

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all had a great summer. I have been busy launching Jason Oliva [Wine], which is turning out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my art career. The 250 limited edition bottles have now been bottled so I thought I’d share some new pictures with you from South Africa prior to their arrival in the States.
Here are Ronel, Maiker, Elton & Jako using custom gravitational equipment to bottle [Stripey Horse]
Dirk Roos, my commissioned wine maker and good friend, has a very eco friendly approach to wine making and pulled out all the stops with our first release [Stripey Horse]. Here is what Dirk has to say:

…you can see in the following picture that the wine was also hand corked. This allows for a better seal that will protect the wine for long term ageing. Also [Stripey] was bottled with 49cm corks, the longest and most expensive money can buy. After this every bottle top will be hand waxed:

I will have more pictures and updates as it gets closer to the wine’s arrival in late October. The bottle samples and label are both in the approval process and once approved, all 250 bottles will be exported from South Africa to New York.
